नवदुर्गा- चौथी कूष्माण्डा

नवरात्री पर्व में चौथे दिन “कूष्माण्डा” देवी के स्वरूप की ही उपासना की जाती है। इस दिन साधक का मन पुर्णत: ‘अदाहत’ चक्र में अवस्थित होता है। अपनी मन्द, हल्की हँसी के द्वारा अण्ड अर्थात ब्रह्माण्ड को उत्पन्न करने के कारण ही इस देवी को कुष्माण्डा नाम से अभिहित किया गया है। जब सृष्टि नहीं थी, और चारों तरफ अन्धकार ही अन्धकार था, तब इसी देवी ने ही अपने ईषत्‌ हास्य से ब्रह्माण्ड की रचना की थी। इसीलिए इन्हें सृष्टि की आदिस्वरूपा या आदिशक्ति कहा गया है।

देवी कुष्माण्डा की आठ भुजाएँ हैं, इसलिए यह अष्टभुजा कहलाईं। इनके सात हाथों में क्रमशः कमण्डल, धनुष, बाण, कमल-पुष्प, अमृतपूर्ण कलश, चक्र तथा गदा सुसज्जित हैं। आठवें हाथ में सभी सिद्धियों और निधियों को देने वाली जप माला है। इस देवी का वाहन सिंह है और इन्हें कुम्हड़े की बलि अत्यंत प्रिय है। संस्कृत में कुम्हड़े को कुष्माण्ड कहते हैं इसलिए इस देवी को कुष्माण्डा कहा गया।

इस देवी का वास सूर्यमण्डल के भीतरी लोक में है। सूर्यलोक में रहने की शक्ति और क्षमता केवल इन्हीं में ही है। इसीलिए इनके शरीर की कान्ति और प्रभा सूर्य की भाँति ही दैदीप्यमान है। माना जाता है कि इनके ही तेज से दसों दिशाएँ आलोकित हैं। ब्रह्माण्ड की सभी वस्तुओं और प्राणियों में इन्हीं का ही तेज व्याप्त है।

साधक को अचंचल और पवित्र मन से नवरात्रि के चौथे दिन इस देवी की पूजा-आराधना करना चाहिए। इससे भक्तों के संपूर्ण रोगों और शोकों का नाश होता है तथा उसे आयु, यश, बल और आरोग्य प्राप्त होता है। यह देवी अत्यल्प सेवा और भक्ति से ही प्रसन्न होकर आशीर्वाद देती हैं। सच्चे मन से पूजा करने वाले को सुगमता से ही परम पद प्राप्त होता है।

पौराणिक मान्यता के अनुसार विधि-विधान से पूजा करने पर भक्त को कम समय में ही कृपा का सूक्ष्म भाव का अनुभव होने लगता है। यह देवी आधियों और व्याधियों से मुक्त करती हैं और साधक को सुख, समृद्धि और उन्नति प्रदान करती हैं। इसलिए इस देवी की उपासना में भक्तों को सदैव तत्पर रहना चाहिए।

मन्त्र:

सुरासम्पूर्णकलशं रुधिराप्लुतमेव च।
दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कूष्माण्डा शुभदाऽस्तु मे॥

माता कूष्मांडा जी की आरती

कहानी:

पौराणिक कथाओं और शास्त्रों के अनुसार नवरात्रि का चौथा दिन माता कूष्माण्डा को समर्पित है। अपनी मनमोहक मुस्कान से इस ब्रह्मांड का निर्माण करने के कारण ही इन्हें देवी कूष्माण्डा के नाम से विख्यात किया गया। जिस समय सृष्टि का निर्माण नहीं हुआ था तथा चारों ओर अंधकार का ही वास था तब देवी कूष्माण्डा ने ही अपने ईशत हास्य के माध्यम से ब्रह्मांड की सरंचना की थी। उनकी इस अद्भुत लीला की वजह से उन्हें सृष्टि की आदिस्वरूपा या आदिशक्ति का नाम दिया गया है।

इनका तेज़ सर्वव्यापी माना गया है। जगत का हर प्राणी, मनुष्य इन्हीं के तेज़ से ही उज्ज्वल है। इनकी कांति, ओज एवं दिव्य स्वरूप सर्व लोक में उजागर है। ब्रह्मांड का कण–कण देवी कूष्माण्डा की शक्ति का ही प्रतीक है। देवी कुष्मांडा की सच्चे मन से पूजा अर्चना करने वाले भक्तों को शक्ति और तेज़ प्राप्त होता है। यह देवी भक्ति तथा सेवा से प्रसन्न होकर ही आशीर्वाद तथा मनोकामना को सिद्ध करती हैं।

On the fourth day in the Navratri festival, only the form of Goddess “Kushmanda” is worshipped. On this day the mind of the seeker is completely situated in the ‘Adahat’ chakra. This goddess has been named as Kushmanda because of her soft, mild laughter causing the egg, that is, the universe. When there was no creation, and there was darkness all around, then it was this goddess who created the universe with her godly humour. That is why he has been called the Adi Swaroopa or Aadishakti of the universe.

Goddess Kushmanda has eight arms, hence she is called Ashtabhuja. In his seven hands, respectively, Kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus-flower, nectar-filled urn, chakra and mace are adorned. In the eighth hand, there is a chanting rosary giving all the siddhis and funds. The vehicle of this goddess is a lion and she loves the sacrifice of pottery. In Sanskrit, Kumhada is called Kushmanda, hence this goddess was called Kushmanda.

The abode of this goddess is in the inner world of the solar system. He alone has the power and ability to live in the sun. That is why the radiance and radiance of his body is just like the sun. It is believed that the ten directions are illuminated by their radiance. Its effulgence pervades all the objects and beings of the universe.

Sadhak should worship this Goddess on the fourth day of Navratri with a calm and pure mind. By this all the diseases and sorrows of the devotees are destroyed and he gets life, fame, strength and health. This goddess is pleased with the little service and devotion and gives blessings. One who worships with a sincere heart easily attains the supreme position.

According to the mythological belief, after worshiping according to the law, the devotee starts experiencing a subtle sense of grace in a short time. This goddess liberates from ailments and diseases and provides happiness, prosperity and progress to the seeker. Therefore, devotees should always be ready in the worship of this goddess.

Story:

According to mythology and scriptures, the fourth day of Navratri is dedicated to Mother Kushmanda. Due to the creation of this universe with her charming smile, she was known as Goddess Kushmanda. At the time when the universe was not created and there was darkness all around, it was Goddess Kushmanda who created the universe through her Ishta humor. Because of his wonderful Leela, he has been given the name of Adi Swaroopa or Adishakti of the universe.

Their fast is considered omnipresent. Every creature in the world, man is bright because of his brilliance. His radiance, radiance and divine form are exposed in all the worlds. Every particle of the universe is a symbol of the power of Goddess Kushmanda. Devotees who worship Goddess Kushmanda with a sincere heart get strength and speed. This goddess fulfills her blessings and wishes only after being pleased with her devotion and service.
